These terms are between you and Pixel Syndicate LLC. Buying a membership means you accept them.
What a membership is
A membership is a paid subscription to Pixel Syndicate. It gives access to member resources as they are published, and to the member community.
Membership is open. Anyone who considers themselves qualified can buy one. There is no review and no queue.
What a membership is not
A membership is not a job, a placement, a lead, or a promise of work. Nothing in a membership guarantees that you will be hired, contacted by a client, or presented to anyone.
A membership does not place you on the vetted roster. The roster is earned through a separate review, carries no price, and cannot be bought. Buying a membership at any tier does not confer roster placement, roster eligibility beyond what the tier states, or any priority in review.
A membership is not legal advice, and neither is any document published to members.
Price, billing and renewal
Prices are the ones shown at checkout. Membership is billed in advance by Stripe and renews automatically at the interval you chose until you cancel.
Founding Member is billed yearly. The rate holds for as long as the membership stays continuously active. If it lapses, the rate is gone and rejoining is at the price then current.
Prices can change. A change never applies to a period you have already paid for, and never to a Founding Member rate that has stayed active.
Cancelling and refunds
Cancel at any time by writing to support@pixelsyndicate.org. Access continues to the end of the period you have paid for and the subscription does not renew.
Membership fees are not refunded, in whole or in part, for a period already begun.
Your conduct
Members do not do unpaid work through this network. No spec work, no unpaid exercises, no free pitches.
Do not share member resources outside the membership, do not resell or republish them, and do not use them to build a competing product.
Behave decently in the community. Harassment ends a membership without refund.
You are responsible for what you post and for anything you do with a client.
Member resources
Documents published to members are starting points written from experience. They are not legal advice and are not a substitute for it. What you sign is your decision and your risk.
Any market figures published to members are compiled from named outside sources and carry the date they were read. They are reference, not a recommendation, not a rate anyone is asked to hold, and not a price agreed among members. What you charge is yours alone to set.
The member page
If your tier includes a member page, it is public. It shows a display name you choose, that the membership is current, and the date it started, and it says plainly when a membership has lapsed. It shows no email address, no rate, no client and no work. It does not say you are vetted and does not say you are available for hire.
Suspension and ending a membership
A membership can be ended for breaking these terms, for abusive conduct, or for a chargeback on a paid membership. No refund is given when a membership is ended this way.
You can end your membership at any time by cancelling.
What Pixel Syndicate does not warrant
The site and the membership are provided as they are. There is no warranty that resources are complete, current, or fit for your situation, and no warranty that the site is uninterrupted or error free.
Pixel Syndicate is not a party to any agreement between a member and a client, does not represent either side, and is not responsible for what either one does.
Limit on liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Pixel Syndicate LLC is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential loss, for lost profit, or for lost work. Total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid in the twelve months before the claim.
Changes to these terms
These terms can change. The effective date at the top changes with them. Continuing to hold a membership after a change means you accept it.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of the State of California. Any dispute arising from them is heard in the state or federal courts of California, and both sides agree to that.
